HUMANITARIAN SON
In May 2009, Immigration and Refugee Services assisted a client who has medical complications and has been on the list for a medical transplant for years, however, she was unable to find a match. Her son in the Philippines wanted to donate his organ to his mom. They were able to do preliminary tests and he was a good match. Immigration and Refugee Services assisted them with the paperwork to allow the son to come to the USA as a potential donor. It took months due to the case not being classified as an emergency, but USCIS finally approved the case. The son should be in the USA soon to donate his organ to his mom and save her life.
