As a charitable, 501©(3) non-profit organization, we are open to receiving funds to meet the needs of the poor. We maintain a policy of openness and transparency with our donors in continuing to seek new and creative means to support our services.

Please consider Catholic Charities as a part of your contributions.
Catholic Charities is a 501©3 nonprofit organization.
No goods or services are given in consideration of your gift.

FUNDING – Funds are the resources by which we are able to support Agency programs. The following provide the majority of the income base for Catholic Charities in our diocese:

CATHOLIC SHARING APPEAL – Diocesan funds allocated through a budgeting process and distributed among the regional offices through an approved annual budget.

UNITED WAY – Each Regional Office receives funding through its local United Way campaign, either through direct partner designation or affiliated status. Board members are asked to support this effort through involvement in preparation and presentation of the budget as well as serving directly on United Way governing boards. It is also expected that Board members will be fair share contributors as examples to the community.

GRANTS AND FOUNDATIONS – Funding from grants and foundations is generally sought to meet the costs of specialized programs. These funds are usually restricted for defined expenses, such as:

  • United States Catholic Conference/MRS for refugee resettlement programs.
  • State of Florida, Department of Children and Families (DCF), homeless rental assistance, homeless transitional housing, etc.
  • McMillan Foundation of Escambia County for assistance to the poor and needy (rent, utilities, food, etc.).
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds received through a federal grant based on poverty status rating of a particular area and allocated for a specific need, i.e., rent, food, utilities, etc.

SPECIAL FUNDRAISING – Resources developed by each regional office to help meet expenses. The Regional Boards of Directors plan special events for this purpose.

PROGRAM FEES – Programs such as counseling and adoption will set fee schedules for professional services based on a sliding scale according to income. Third party reimbursement will be applied for when applicable. Immigration has a fee schedule based on type of services rendered.

“If anyone is well-off in worldly possessions and sees his brother in need but closes his heart to him, how can the love of God be remaining in him? Children, our love must not be just words or mere talk, but something active and genuine.”
